What is the AIM Practitioner Certification?

The Accelerating Implementation Methodology (AIM) Practitioner Certification is a four-day, instructor-led program where you apply AIM, the change management methodology developed by Don Harrison, founder of IMA Worldwide, to a real organizational initiative you bring with you. You leave with a formal credential and a worked implementation plan for your own project.

When and where does the Portland program take place?

The cohort runs October 12 to 15, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day, at The Bidwell, a Marriott hotel at 520 Southwest Broadway in downtown Portland, Oregon. It is fully in person and instructor led.

How much does the AIM certification cost, and what is included?

Tuition is $3,500. That includes all four days of instruction, your AIM Practitioner Certification, a digital LinkedIn badge, ACMP QEP credits, hands-on training in the AIM assessments, and a repeatable implementation framework you apply to a real project during the program.

Do I need prior change management experience or a certification to attend?

No prior certification is required. The program is built around applying AIM to a real change initiative you are responsible for, so the most valuable preparation is bringing a live project: a system rollout, reorganization, merger integration, AI adoption effort, or any change where adoption matters.

Is there an exam?

You earn the credential by doing the work, not by sitting an exam. Across the four days you work through the AIM Roadmap on your own initiative: diagnosing implementation risk, building sponsorship, assessing readiness, managing resistance, and designing a reinforcement plan. Your certification reflects demonstrated application, not memorization.

Who teaches the Portland cohort?

Does this certification count toward the CCMP?

Yes. The program is delivered by an ACMP Qualified Education Provider (QEP), so your hours earn QEP credits recognized by the Association of Change Management Professionals, the body behind the Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP) credential.

How is AIM different from other change management certifications?

AIM was developed by Don Harrison of IMA Worldwide and is grounded in decades of field research on why implementations succeed or stall. Where many programs center on communication and training plans, AIM centers on sponsorship, readiness, reinforcement, and resistance: the conditions that determine whether a change is adopted, not just installed.
